3/12/2010 11:58:02 PM My little girl is learning to walk, and we all know she can do it when she wants to. But she still prefers to crawl most of the time. How do you get your kids to stand up and walk for something rather then crawl? |

I think you just need to give her time. When she realizes she can get somewhere faster by walking or even running, she'll do it. Until then, enjoy watching her crawl while you still can! She'll be running around before you know it :) |

To add to that, my son never really graduated from walking to crawling. One day he was crawling and the next, he was running form one support to another, just like that. I actually had to wait till I saw him do it again, till I believed it. So maybe you will see that with your daughter. Each child has a built in schedule, I think. - eve7 3/13/2010 8:25:37 AM | Flag |

I would let your child crawl for as long as you can. My sister in law is chiropractor and the longer your child crawls the stronger their back will be. This is very important if you think about sports in the future. I know high school is far away, but it really does make a huge difference. |

When my son tried to crawl instead of walking. I found that praising him on how good he was doing helped. I also went out and got some toys that you have to walk behind. some of them maid noises others blow bubbles. That really helped. |
