Asked by mirandayb {105} http://www.gafosterteens.com 3/17/2010 11:24:59 AM I have a young child who loves any and every food offered to him. However I realize that some foods may be dangerous for him because of choking. What are some major foods we may eat everyday that are serious choking hazards for small children? |

Anything: stringy like celery or steak sticky or gummy like marshmallows or chewing gum hard like raw veggies or stick candy whole grapes should be cut in half No food peelings or animal skins No hotdogs You should always cut up foods so that they are tiny. Children should always eat sitting straight, not laying down or slouching over. Also keep an eye out for children stuffing their cheeks without chewing their food and swallowing it. |

I especially do not give my baby suckers; I believe that there is a chance that the candy can slip off of the stick. Also children have a tendency to fall with them in their mouth. - LisaReed 3/19/2010 4:58:54 PM | Flag |

The WORST bar none is hotdogs. Yes, hotdogs. The government may even make the manufacturers come up with a better shape. Peanut butter on soft bread can choke them, too. Baby carrots are bad for it, also. Hard candy, caramels, too. MEAT is a big choker of little ones. They can't chew it up right. |
