Asked by mirandayb {105} http://www.gafosterteens.com 3/17/2010 12:01:54 PM I prefer to prepare healthy wholesome meals at home to make sure my child eats nutritious foods instead of greasy fast food or processed sugarloaded junk. However, I know that not all foods are equal. So what would be some of the worst foods I could buy at the grocery store to feed my children? |

Butter and full-fat processed cheeses with tons of saturated fat Fast food fries and potato chips have no nutritious value Doughnuts and other sweeties that have trans fats and lots of sugar Hot dogs and processed meats (deli meats, sausages) filled with nitrates |

I feel like we should not feed our children foods that are high in saturated fat. As well as take out food, they are not good for our kids. These foods also contribute to early obesity. - LisaReed 3/19/2010 4:53:50 PM | FlagSaturated fat is bad but I think that feeding you children sugar is like poisoning their bodies. It is something that we can all just do without and be better for it. - JacksMom 3/20/2010 10:01:46 PM | FlagI agree with you jacksmom about sugar, I think sugar is one of the worst things we are consuming and to think its in everything we eat. We are eating way to much sugar now a days and type 2 diabetes have been on the rise even among children, sugar is the culprit. - lisadallasr 3/23/2010 12:46:04 AM | Flag |

This is my list of what I believe to be the absolute worse 5 foods that we can feed our children 1.) Sugar filled cereal. I HATE the stuff. It is hard and cold and taste like a wet mouthful of cotton candy. When I fix my kids breakfast, I opt for oatmeal. At least it is good and hot and I can control the amount of sugar they are eating. 2.) Chicken nuggets of ANY kind. These things should have never been invented. Nothing like taking the nastiest parts of the bird (skin too) and grinding it all up and putting into weird shapes and putting it in front of our kids to eat. I give my child chicken strips made from full white chicken breast meat. It looks healthier, tastes better, and does not give me nightmares! Ha ha! 3.) Overly processed foods. I understand that it is hard to eliminate all processed foods from your families diet because they are so darn convenient, but it is not that hard to get rid of the processed meats, beads, and sugars. 4.) Candy. A total waste of calories with nothing but false energy that sends kids crashing in no time. If my child wants something sweet, I give her a piece of fresh fruit. If it is out of season or costs a bit more then I would like to pay then I get the all natural fruit cups with NO added juice or sugars. 5.) Fast Food – most all of it. Over the years they have tried to make it healthy by adding fruit such as apple slices, but then they go and drench them with sticky sugary dips. It’s a joke. |
