3/23/2010 10:08:36 AM My two year old daughter sometimes makes it hard for me to go out. She always wants to run around and not stay close me or she doesn't want to stay in a shopping cart or stroller. I like to get out sometimes! Thanks you! |

My good friend ist he mom of a high energy three year old. Some things that have worked for us include:#1) talking with them before we leave and letting them know what the expectation is. Explaining what we are doing and setting a consequence if they do not listen. On occasion, we will also offer a reward if behavior is met.#2) Giving them a task to do with you that helps them to feel involved. Example: If its shopping, giving them a task like finding a certain colored box on the shelf or counting the babies they see in the store.... something that lets them interact.#3) child backpack with straps to mom (you can find them in Target) or small umbrella stroller to keep them next to you and out of trouble! :) |

I think she might like including her in the task. Rewards usually work pretty good with her. The umbrella stroller works for a little while and then she wants to get out and push it. I wouldn't mind but she directs it toward people. Great ideas! |
