![]() | As a former public school teacher who is now homeschooling I believe homeschooling is the best alternative. You are able to instruct your children not only on academics but on life as well. There are so many opportunites for learning at home. The resources are endless on the internet. You can find free worksheets to help with your curriculum. In addition you choose your field trips. I will say extra curricular activities are an integral part of the socialization. Most states have their standards on line you can use that to guide your instruction. Regardless of which you choose you should always be focused on what your children are learning and from whom. |

I would definitely say so. We are pulling both of our children out of public school next year. Opponents of homeschooling often say that they will miss out on a much needed opportunity for social interaction, and as a result they will not know how to act around other people. That assumption is false according to statistics. Children who home school are often more intelligent, modest and in many cases they even socialize better. My wife has talked to several of her professors about the issue and all of them claim that the kids who were homeschooled are their best students. |

I think public schooling gives them better opportunity to learn & getting around with their own age kids. Kids learn more in their age groups . If you are home schooling then you have to be more focused towards their learnings as they will only learn from you. |

I do think it depends on the child and the situation. If there is quality education, no bullying, and caring people at a public school, then no reason not to send them. But if your child has special needs that aren't addressed or if it's an unfortunate case of a poor school, with an uncaring principal at the helm, then homeschooling would be so much better. By the way, you can follow the public school curriculum AT HOME. You don't have to reinvent the wheel! ANY district in the nation will provide you with the information of what they are using for books, workbooks, etc, and the skills that the texts address. This is your right to know. Most have websites where you can just print this out yourself, too (in Texas, for example). |

| Kim Smith I don`t know where you live, but I will do anything I possibly can to keep my children out of public school. The teachers just don`t have the resources they need. Here in Florida they have to teach for the FCAT. As a person that has worked in the school system, I don`t want my children in it. Thursday, May 10, 2012 | ||
