Asked by neuroticscribe {56} http://neuroticscribe.blogspot.com 4/7/2010 7:17:30 PM My six year old son is still wearing pull ups. The doctor said that its normal till the age of 6 and then they want to start testing. He's such a deep sleeper he just doesnt wake up. Do you have any suggestions on how to get him out of pullups and using the toilet at nighttime? His pullup is soaked every morning. |

It may be because your sons bladder is not maturing at the same rate as the rest of him. I'm not sure if that's exactly the way it's explained but it's close enough. My six-year-old nephew had a similar issue. Bed was just too snuggly to leave. |

| Brandy Webster this is very normal...try stopping fluids after dinner waking him around mid night to viod and drink lots of water through out the day. Be patient bed wetting is very normal Saturday, January 21, 2012 | ||
| Bobbi Argabrite Set an alarm for him to wake up in the middle of the night. You can find clocks with dual alarms also. I thought I`ve heard of a thing you can get to put under their pillow that vibrates to wake them up also. You could do the torture thing by not allowing any liquids after say 7pm and make sure he goes to the bathroom before going to bed. Saturday, January 21, 2012 | ||
| Cynthia Archer If you ever wake up in the night to go pee, take him with you. Even if you just toss and turn, get up and take your son to the bathroom to get him used to it. Minimize drinks an hour before bed. It takes about an hour and 10 minutes for the bladder to fill. Lastly, have him do the majority of the work when it comes to washing the sheets, wiping down the mattress and re-making the bed to help teach responsibility. It`s not harsh, just reality. Teaching any kind of responsibility now will go with Saturday, January 21, 2012 | ||
| Kristy Hamilton It`s nothing to be ashamed of. It happens to many boys. Just do what works best for you and him. Setting an alarm or not allowing liquids after a certain time might work. Eventually he will grow out of it. Saturday, January 21, 2012 | ||
| Kari Keller I work in Urology, there are alarms you can buy. Sometimes it`s all about making set bathroom schedules so it just becomes routine. Saturday, January 21, 2012 | ||

| Susan Auten I just learned today that there could be more serious problems associated with bed wetting at an older age. A urologist would be able to determine if there is a medical reason for the bed wetting. Sunday, January 22, 2012 | ||
