4/8/2010 11:21:36 PM Do you use reward systems for your children? I'm looking for a good one for my four-year-old. He is not motivated by stickers, and candy (even when used sparingly) makes him impossible to deal with. Those are the two systems I hear about most often, and none of them work for me. What's your take on reward systems, and what ideas can you give me? |

Can you maybe reward him with extra outside time or a trip, even if it's to the park. |

What we do in rewarding is what I call special toy pick. We have several new toys which our little one has to have, but will only get if earned enough reward coins to get it. Clean up the room, you get 5 coins, and ect. The new toy wanted so badly would cost ten coins for example. After they get ten coins, they get the toy. I know it sounds a bit odd, but it works for us. |

| Kim Smith There are bucketfiller books. I think our first was Are you a bucketfiller We made hearts and stars and put them into a bucket everytime he shows good behavior. When he gets a certain number, he trades them in for something special. Ice cream or a date with mommy type of thing. It is similar to what you have tried, but it seems to catch on better with a story. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 | ||
| Sherri Hare absolutely believe in rewards... we had monkies on a tree, 3 for each boy.. but then my sons kindergarten teacher was discipling with fake bananas, so it was getting confusing.. my other son`s daycare rewards with stickers, and so many stickers on a chart earns them a toy from her treasure chest... just something small... we are going to start doing Hare bucs for the kids at home- we use school bucs in the school i work at and they save them up to use at the school store.. ill start a little ba Wednesday, December 28, 2011 | ||
| Dessylyn Arnold I never use food as a reward. When children get food as a reward, they feel that when they are good, they should get a treat. This leads to obesity! Wednesday, December 28, 2011 | ||
| Dessylyn Arnold Try a radnom box of goodies, like from the dollar store or five below. When he earns a prize, he can choose a prize from the box. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 | ||
