Potty training can start once your child starts showing interest. Chances he or she has seen you using the bathroom, and these can be opportunities to talk to your child about it. For example, See how mommy pees in the potty? Do you want to pee in the potty? I also started emptying poopy diapers into the potty when possible and telling my daughter that poop goes in the potty. Then encourage them to try, using praise or songs or whatever rewards work best for your child. You don't really need anything like the cheerios for girls since aim is not an issue. |

With both of m y older girls, neither were very easy to potty train. But what finally worked was we created a chart and posted it on the bathroom door, every time that they went pee they got 1 star and poo 2 stars and after so many stars they would get a special treat or get to pick dinner. Any rewards that would work for you, but this method really helped with both and they were completely trained in about 2 weeks after months of trying. |
