4/10/2010 6:47:23 PM What is the best way to tell older children that an addition to the family is on the way? Should my approach be different based on age and gender of my current children? Should I expect that they will be excited or speechless? I never know what to expect from my kids. Sometimes they don't seem to care much about anything (LOL) and sometimes they are overly emotional. I am hoping for a suggestion of a creative and fun way to tell them, instead of just giving it to them in black and white...any suggestions? |

You know your kids better than anyone else. I don't know the ages so I would say maybe plan a little party that would be fun for all of them and tell them it is a surprise party. They will get curious but don't let them know what it is for. Let them help with the decorations etc. Get a cake and write on it something like welcome your new brother or sister!. You will still need to deal with the excitement and the (hopefully not) anger or anxiety but it will break the ice and involve them. |
