4/10/2010 7:08:00 PM My son is 13 months old and has switched to whole milk. He gave up the bottle right away and loves drinking out of a cup, but we have found he spits out milk with every drink he takes. I am not a fan of wasting food but it seems that he spits out more than he swallows. I shouldn't really call it spitting, he just opens his mouth and lets the milk run out of his mouth and down his chin. Any suggestions on how to get him to stop doing this? |

The only suggestion I can really think to give is to keep offering it. Simply give him less, that way he isn't wasting as much. It took my daughter some time to adjust to the taste of whole milk as well. You could try to experiment with goats milk or soy milk, I don't know if that is closer to the taste of formula or not since I have never tasted formula. (I assumed he is coming off of formula since you said bottle instead of breast.) |

| Caren Condron I`m told this is normal. My daughter, now 2, has been doing that for a while. They just grow out of it. Wednesday, November 09, 2011 | ||
| Sarah Barbel They are using different muscles that aren`t formed yet. They also are learning something new and are playing/experimenting with it. You`ll find that with a lot of things. Eventhough their expression may not show it, they are. Wednesday, November 09, 2011 | ||
| Janie Varnadoe My son did the same thing. It took him a while to acquire a taste for milk. Now he drinks his milk only in the morning but none throughout the day. He just isnt a fan of milk. Wednesday, November 09, 2011 | ||
