4/10/2010 7:56:49 PM When should a toddler (13 months old) start taking 1 nap instead of 2? My son is still taking 2 naps (1 morning, 1 afternoon) and goes to bed for the night between 630-7pm. He sleeps all night and wakes around 7-730am to start his day. We have tried to change him to just one nap but he is very fussy with only one nap. Are we just trying to change his routine too early? |

![]() | Yes..as long as he still goes to bed at a decent time at night and sleeps all night he should still take 2 naps if he wants to. There is nothing wrong with it and no danger. If he starts to stay awake later at night or can't sleep straight through then you should cut one of the naps out. |

In my opinion, two naps aren't so much to worry about; some tots take anywhere from 3 to 6 naps in a day. The important thing to remember is that children in their toddler stage don't really get all the sleep they need in one night. If your son is fussy with only one nap, it's probably a good idea to let him sleep a little more. |

| Brandi Sanford My son was ready at 14m for 1 longer nap instead of 2 shorter ones. He is 22m now and takes 1 2:30-3 hour nap a day. Friday, October 28, 2011 | ||
