My kids are 3 and 22 months and we do 8 30 bedtime and they usually get up around 7 30 in the morning. I was wondering anyone else with kids close to my age when do they do bedtime? Someone told me I do bedtime to late for such small kids.. what do you think?

My daughter has been going to bed at 8:30 since she was 3 years old. Before that age we had a bit of a struggle due to moving and my new job (that requires some late nights work).
She also wake up at 7:30 to go to school but if I let her she'll sleep til 8. The bed time hour for her and the method to reinforce it, was suggested to me by her day care provider and it worked.
My children have also had 8 or 8:30 bed times since they were young. Kids need more sleep than adults, so these bed times are especially important for children that have to wake up early for school.    -    Alexis 4/21/2010 8:00:40 PM | Flag

I think bedtime needs to be whatever works for your family and the amount of sleep your children need.  My son is now 6 and his bedtime has always been around 8:30 or 9.  I work from home at night and I need him to sleep in a bit or I don't get enough sleep myself!

Agree! Bedtime here is 8:00 sharp on weeknights (school nights since the boys are in school) and as late as 10 or so on weekends, but it depends on the mood of the kiddos *winks* and if morale is running low midday, naps are in order!    -    shewolf 4/24/2010 6:45:19 PM | Flag

mine are 4.5 and 20 months. they go to bed at 8 and sleep till 630-730 anywhere in there. I was putting my oldest to bed at 9, but someone told me it was late, so we tried 8 (plus he doesnt nap) and it works great. and my hubby and i have quite time before bed! Its nice. Do what works for you! they are your kids!

My twin 3.5 year olds go to bed at 7, they are usually up at 7 the next day unless it`s a school day and then they get up at 6. Their bedtime hasn`t changed since they were 9 months old unless they are at their dad`s...lol!

I have a 15-month old and a 5 year old. Bed time is 7-7:30 for the little guy and my big guy can stay up until 8, if he has behaved himself. If not, to bed at 7pm

My kids don`t like to sleep. They are 9 mo and 6yrs. But 8:30 is a great time to put your kids to bed. (If I put mine to bed before 9pm they are up at 2am)

Mine are 4 & 2 and I put them in bed at 8:00. They are up at 7:30 as well. I`ve also been told that they go to bed too late for their ages. But I have also noticed that the average amount of sleep children their age are supposed to get is 11 to 13 hours a night. I think if they aren`t acting groggy then you should be fine with the time you`re putting them to bed.

I found with a lot of kids that If you put them to bed after 8:30, they are crabby.
