Dry skin in children

My daughter seems to have chronic dry skin on her arms, hands, and around her face.  Her doctor says it is not a serious ailment, such as eczema, and that it is not something to worry about.  The dry skin is an annoyance, however.  Have any of you experienced dry skin in your child, and what products have been the most helpful in curing this ailment?

My daughter had some white spots on her arms last summer. One day, having her annual check up, I asked the doctor what was it. The doctor said it was dry skin and I should not worry about it. However she offered to write a prescription  but I declined it. The dry skin spots were gone by the end of summer and, as today she, hasn't had any ever since.

We use Gold Bond with Cortizone. my son has really bad dry patches on his arms and legs.  If we use it twice a day, it seems to work really well. Good luck!

My four month old has the same. Aveeno wasnt strong enough so we now use physoderm wash for babies and eucerin lotion. Best yet.

I have severe dry skin and my son does too plus ezema. I find that sauve lotion works pretty well for dry skin. But I prefer the gold bond lotion or aveeno.

My son has Eczema and the doctor usually recommends Eucerin Cream or the disney brand Baby Eczema cream will get back to you on brand on that one but, anything really thick and rich in emollients to help with it. My son has pimples that are like whiteheads that even dry white hard stuff comes out of and the creams help calm it down and certain times of the year are better than others for him. I just read another post it is bentle naturals baby eczema cream.

Johnson and Johnson products are TERRIBLE for children with dry skin and eczema! I give my son a bath in luke warm water(as quick as possible) with about 2tbsp of baking powder and a tbsp of extra virgin olive oil. We use Aveeno baby wash. Immediately following bath pat dry and wipe on a generous amount of lavendar and vanilla calming baby lotion. Let the lotion soak in on its own, don`t rub it in. I have struggled with this problem since childhood and now its back to haunt me with my own kids l

I used Cetaphil(lotion and body wash) for my infant and the dry skin was gone in no time..and also, twice a week, I massage him with the olive oil(just before his bath time)
