4/24/2010 9:16:14 PM My 12yr old has really rough, bumpy knees. And, poor thing, she is a little self-conscious about them. Does anyone know why this happens? She applies plenty of lotion and other skin care products, but still, the rough knees persist. I can remember when I was around her age having rough knees and "bumpy" elbows as well. The best I can tell her is the it's an age, growing up sort of thing. I grew out of it apparently, since I dont' have the problem now as an adult. Any help out there in mom land? |

I had rough knees and elbows when I was growing up as well. It definatly is just a phase. Have you tried Aquaphor? I would also ask your peditrian if there are any special ointments that you may be able to get to help. |

My brother had this. Turned out it was psorisis....it was red and bumpy.....now that he's older it has calmed down some but he's in his 30's and both my brothers have it mostly on scalp and elbow area. See a physician..There are more options today to help heal. |

A great lotion to use for rough skin, eczema, or any type of skin issue, is Renew Skin Therapy. It's made by Melaleuca and is amazing!!! 7x more effective than Eucerin. Let me know if you would like to learn more. I have a great article about it. |

| Amy Buteau How about taking old man size socks and cutting the toes out - you apply lots of lotion to the affected areas, cover them with the socks, and then have her go to bed like that. It`s commonly used when people have exema or other skin diseases that cause extreme roughness. Get a medicated lotion type, like Lubiderm. Tuesday, October 12, 2010 | ||
