4/26/2010 9:19:07 AM Before we got pregnent we had a cat and a dog. Now we have a little baby, and we always have them around the pets so they grow up knowing what they are. Do you think this is OK to do? |

![]() | Certainly! I introduced my son to our pets as soon as he got home from the hospital. The earlier the better because they have to get to know him. |

Agreed as long as it's done responsibly and the pet is never left unattended with the child. Even a playful gesture from the baby or animal can result in an altercation, not that it will - but it's best to be safe than sorry. - ExoticDiva77 8/26/2010 1:59:02 AM | Flag |

We have a 23 pound dog and she is best friends with my son. Ryan can even play rough, but the dog is still gentle. I think you need to look at the behavior of your pets before you bring them around your children. Obviously, the children come first. I think pets show your children how to be loving and also responsibility if you have them help take care of the pets. |

I think it is great to have them around pets. As long as you trust the animal, I say it's fine. That way you teach your children about animals and how to treat them. My daughter has been raised around 3 big dogs, and they are great with her. |

| Michelle Ramirez-Caldwell Except for the cat (I`m still leery of them in general), yes it`s ok to have your pets around the baby. We have a 50lb Boxer & a 60lb Chocolate Lab that our 18 month adores...they`re great with her! Sunday, October 03, 2010 | ||
| Shawn Bailey Yep I sure do, I have 6 kiddos and before them we always have had animals. There for our children have always been around both cats and dog. Right now we have 3 cats and 4 dogs. Pitbull, chihuahua, Chipoodle and rat terrier. Sunday, October 03, 2010 | ||
| Magaly Sanchez As long as you watch the pets around the baby everything should be fine. Our 15 month old loves playing with our cats. He can be rough so we have to watch him. And he`s been swatted by one cat too when he got too rough with her. But the cats are slowly learning to run away! Sunday, October 03, 2010 | ||
| Laurie Garrett I have 4 cats and a 50 pound lab and have always raised my children around animals. I have also always been watchful and cautious to assure the cats don`t lash out at my now 16 month old, or that she doesn`t hit the dog when playing. It took some time for them to get used to her being here...the cats stayed away and my lab just watched and was so curious!!! But my little one LOVES each and every one of our pets and they bring big smiles to her face! Sunday, October 03, 2010 | ||
| Aimee Green My kids have all been raised around our animals. Right now we have a cat, a 90lb German Shepherd/Border Collie mix, and a 5 month old baby. She`s the youngest of 6 and all of our kids did great around the pets. We teach them to respect the animals and while the cat stays away, the dog adores all of them! Sunday, October 03, 2010 | ||
