Can you potty train a 16.5-month-old boy?

I've been doing a lot of reading about potty training. Many of the moms say that they have trained their kids by or around 16-months-old, but that seems early to me. I don't want to start if he's not ready, but how do I know if he's ready?

What do you all think?

If it were a girl, I would say go for it but I've heard boys are next to impossible to potty train. I don't know this by experience though, my son is 16 months old and nowhere near riding the potty train.

Absolutely! When a child is ready to potty train they usually will show interest such as going into the bathroom with you and asking questions about the toilet, pulling the pants down to try and go to the bathroom, getting up on the toilet, etc. I feel if a child is not ready and you go ahead and start training then it might take longer overall to train. My daughter was not ready at 2, whereas my grandbaby is already potty trained at the same age.

Mine were ready when they started walking into bathroom to do their business. i started mine older 2 when they were able to stay dry in pull ups for 4-6 hours at about 2-2.5 years.I have read that If you push to potty train too early they can have problems with wetting accidents. my sister in law forced her kids to train at 12months so she could lower the cost of day car and now at 15 my nephew still has accidents once in a while with holding it

When your child understand what you want them to do..then they are ready...James hates to be dirty! When he was about 8 months I noticed he would only poop when he was in the play center. It was like he had to sit down to poop...Probably why I call him Little Man...Anyway, I used that to train him after meals....Then we moved to a potty chair...He loves his chair...He is not fully potty trained but he is 17 months and really getting it. I also use cloth diapers (Flip diaper system). I have b
