Do you increase chores during summer/winter break?

I know there are a lot of question on here about chores. I was just curious if you give your kids more chores during summer and/or winter breaks when they aren't attending school. To me it seems like they have TONS more free time and less responsibility, therefore they should help around the house more.

What are your thoughts?

I agree. So much more free time means so much more potential boredom.  Which means more work for mom. If you can't come up with more "regular" chores, have the child help with things connected with keeping busy.

For example, if the child is old enough, he/she can deal with the swimsuits, towels, etc after a trip to the beach or pool.  For a bike ride, the child can put away the bikes or the helmets, etc.  For a boardgame afternoon, the child can be the one to get everything all set up, and do the clearing also.  Or you can trade off chores.  Have the child do something you usually do, in exchange for something extra you do for him/her.   Just don't let mom be the one-woman entertainment provider.

Our house rule is everyone is up by 8:30, even on weekends and holiday beaks(I don`t run a hotel or a bed and breakfast!) They all have a chore list to complete by the end of the day. Once everything on their lists are complete, they can do whatever they want. It gives them an incentive to finish quickly so they can go back to sleep or out to play=]

My kids all have two chores day. it doesnt change with a vacation or holiday they deserve a break too. However I dont count cleaning thier own room as a chore as it is thier responsibility.

My kiddos have chores, their room doesn`t count (that`s a given with 4 boys), they have goals for the chores to count towards though and motivate them. mom I want a cell phone is translated to, ok I`m doing my chores and keeping my room clean to earn it. It doesn`t hurt for kids to pitch in while on holiday breaks with extra stuff, you could even make it fun for them to help by doing it with them or teaching them a new skill. I wouldn`t designate extra stuff, unless you need to or they are re

I give my kids choresa dn goals for those chores but is there an easier way to get them to finsih what they start? My kids being 3 boys start projects chores but do not ever finish them. I do not know how to pump up or guide them into fishing what they started. @ of them have ADHD as I do and the other just feels as he don`t have to unless he wants something from the store. I would like to gert my kids to do chores without having to be bride to do so. Any suggestions?

If they feel like you are helping them instead of deligating it makes a world of difference with ADHD kids. Make a list for yourself and them, give them one task at a time and make it fun, have them help you, you help them. Spending the time together and seeing everything get done becomes the reward, instead of things.
