the doctors recomend starting at four to six months. they also recomend that you start off with the vegetables because some babies get the sweet taste of the fruits then they wont eat the vegetables |

Sounds good, thanks. Also makes sense with starting them off with veggies first, since no kid really enjoys eating them - I guess that goes for babies too. lol - newgeekymom 3/1/2010 8:42:19 PM | FlagI was going to second the 4-6 months. I also really wish I had learned the veggies first with my first child. She's almost 18 and still doesn't like most veggies! I've always wondered if I could have changed that! - babs6219 3/1/2010 7:49:12 PM | Flagthanks! I will try this out. It's a really good idea to introduce your baby to veggies at a young age so when they grow up, they'll learn to love eating it. - melissam 3/2/2010 2:24:41 AM | FlagI think it is also important to remember, you can puree many of your own table veggies as well at the 4-6 month mark! - mrstcrutcher 3/2/2010 3:02:44 PM | Flagi totally did the make your own baby food thing!!! i used the magic bullet. i made a bunch ahead of time and froze them, you can find containers specifically for this a most baby stores - danismom 3/10/2010 7:46:21 PM | Flag |

Doctors recommend 4 to 6 months old, but some babies need to start sooner. I have four children and i think only one waited until 4 to 6 weeks to start on food. We did start out with plain oat meal first of course. For an example my youngest is 1 month 2 weeks old, he is already eating oat meal. He would eat to fast and either get sick or have hick ups most of the day. He was also eating 4 to 6 ounces every 2 to 3 hours. Both are not good for a baby, so we give him 1 to 2 bottles a day of oat meal. This way he gets full and satisfied, making him eat less often. |
