We have the Britax Marathon for our son. He's been in it since about 10 months old. Britax is supposed to be one of the safest car seats around. Although, all car seats have to meet certain safety standards to even be sold. It's important to make sure the seats are installed correctly, otherwise they can cause harm in a collision. Your local police or fire department can do car seats checks to make sure your seat is installed correctly. |

I forgot to say that our Britax car seat goes up to 65 lbs. so it may be the only seat you ever need. - HeavenlyMommy 3/5/2010 1:32:20 PM | Flag |

Unfortunately, I have not found a “safest car seat” website or list because, at least here in the U.S., all seats must be equally safe to have ever reached the marketplace of America consumers. Still, there is an “how easy is it to use” list with ratings published by NHTSA -- National Highway Traffic Safety Association -- www.nhtsa.org. I think that they are a great place to start because in my opinion the most unsafe car seat is the one improperly installed. If it is hard to use and difficult to install, it won’t be used properly, and thus it is unsafe. |
