Asked by HeavenlyMommy {656} http://www.heavenlymommy.com 3/7/2010 2:29:28 PM My 18-month-old son has had a runny nose for about a week and a half now. I noticed today that his little boogies are green. Does this mean he has an infection? He's been pretty cranky this week, but I thought it was just a toddler phase he's going through. Thoughts? |

You do know that everyone has green boogers right? A cold is a virus, so yes, it would mean he has a cold. If you are worried about his boogers, syringe them out with a nose squeegie and some nose saline. I hate when my babies are sick. Good luck :) |

The boogers had been clear, but now they are more green. I guess that's why I was worried. Thanks for helping me out :) - HeavenlyMommy 3/8/2010 7:57:56 PM | FlagNo, actually, I didn't know everyone had green boogies. - BBmama11 3/8/2010 9:35:37 PM | FlagYeah I think the green color just comes from environmental factors- meaning there's something in the air that's getting into his sinuses. It IS allergy season, maybe he's got an allergy to a plant or something. - shanesmama 3/10/2010 4:45:25 PM | FlagI am pretty sure green means infection. Not necessarily an infection requiring treatment but an infection none the less. Just keep your eye on any other symptoms of illness. - momhas2js 3/10/2010 5:56:38 PM | FlagMy son hates the nose squeegie. Maybe this should be its own question here, but what's the best way to pin down my little guy to be able to suck out the snot? - abbamom123 3/27/2010 8:29:17 PM | Flag |
